TIMING

by Karen Colohan

They used to time their visits to the Talon so that they'd 'accidentally' run into one another. It was obvious, the number of occasions they walked through the doors within five minutes of one another. Only natural then to share a table while they drank their coffee - smiling, laughing, very much together.

Now it's all about avoidance. Eyes scan the room - checking the coast is clear - before either moves to the counter. Mumbled apologies and a hasty retreat ensue when the timing's off and they do come face to face.

Lana doesn't know what happened, but they aren't together now.
